Government of Gujarat has taken a big decision for the children studying at schoolAhmedabad: The Gujarat government has taken a big decision for the children studying at the school. This decision will affect the children in any board and in any medium. According to the information available, the government is planning to mandate the Gujarati subjects in the state schools affiliated to any board including the CBSE. Under this plan, Gujarati language will be compulsory for Class 8 in academic year 2018.
According to the government, Gujarati schools will be mandated as secondary or third languages in these schools. GCERT will propose this matter. Chief Minister Rupana gave guidance on this in Gandhinagar Education Department's Chintan Shibir. Earlier, in an earlier program in Ahmedabad, the Chief Minister expressed concern over the number of children going missing in Gujarati and the statistics of non-Gujarati students.
The Chief Minister said that education is the foundation of development. If the quality of teaching is not good then the development will remain incomplete. The state government allocates Rs 25,000 crore for education every year. Each year, 80,000 students of poor, dalit, disadvantaged and laborer families in 34000 government schools receive education.
